Aircraft broadcast their position by ADS-B many times a second. A worldwide network of volunteer receivers collects those signals, and we read them through the adsb.lol open-data service. Over land in North America coverage is near complete; over the ocean a flight can disappear for a while until it is back in range. Arrival estimates are calculated by Boston Limo Service, are approximate, and are not official airline or FAA information.
